Cactus Fest 2018 Recap
Just in time for festival season, on Saturday, April 14, we had our own fest – Cactus Fest – for the 3rd year in a row! Every year we celebrate the desert's blooming (or just about to bloom) cacti by having a sale on cactus.
This year we stepped it up a notch and introduced a Cactus + Succulent Judging Contest. Being the first year of this contest, we were happy to see a very special Leuchtenbergia L. Principis in the Cactus category (winner of Best Cactus and Best in Show) and a Deuterocohnia Brevifolia chlorantha in the Succulent category (winner of Best Succulent). Big thanks to the Vellios family for participating!
We're always rockin' out to some sort of music at Cactus Mart – be it through the store speakers, our phones while restocking the hardware store, or humming along while we plant cacti. Andy Gassaway, accompanied by Sean Burford, indulged our music cravings with their rock tunes.
Lots of laughs were had with Lindsay from La Rosa Que Creció Floral Design in our presence! She made beautiful flower crowns for festival attendees to adorn themselves in the magic of blooms.
And if that wasn't enough, Martha's Frybread set up for the day and kept all of us fed with her famous frybread tacos and new items like jackfruit fajitas!
